Brief of e-code numbering

E-Numbers represent specific food additives, used by the food industry in the manufacture of various food products. These E-Numbers have been formulated by the European Economic Community (EEC) and are universally adopted by the food industry worldwide. It is known that many E-numbers contain unlisted haraam ingredients in them. Generally additives derived from animals and insects.

E-numbers are reference numbers used by the European Union to facilitate identification of food additives. All food additives used in the European Union are identified by an E-number. The "E" stands for "Europe" or "European Union". Normally each food additive is assigned a unique number, though occasionally, related additives are given an extension ("a", "b", or "i", "ii") to another E-number.

The Commission of the European Union assigns e-numbers after the additive is cleared by the Scientific Committee on Food (SCF), the body responsible for the safety evaluation of food additives in the European Union. The convention for assigning E-numbers is:

100-199 food colors

200-299 preservatives

300-399 antioxidants, phosphates, and complexing agents

400-499 thickeners, gelling agents, phosphates, humectants, emulsifiers

500-599 salts and related compounds

600-699 flavor enhancers

700-899 not used for food additives (used for feed additives)

900-999 surface coating agents, gases, sweeteners

1000-1399 miscellaneous additive

1400-1499 starch derivatives

E-numbers are only used for substances added directly to food products, so contaminants, enzymes and processing aids, which may be classified as additives in the USA, are not included in the E-number system.

There is an EU directive on food labeling which requires food additives to be listed in the product ingredients whenever they are added for technological purposes. This includes coloring, sweetening and favor enhancement as well as for preservation, thickening, emulsifying and the like. Ingredients must be listed in descending order of weight, which means that are generally found close to the end of the list of ingredients. However, substances used in the protection of plants and plant products, flavorings and substances added as nutrients (e.g., minerals, trace elements or vitamins) do not need to be included in the ingredient list. Because of this, some substances that are regulated as food additives in other countries may be exempt from the food additive definition in the EU.

E codes ingredients

E codes are codes sometimes found on food labels in the European Union (GB, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, etc.) The code indicates an ingredient which is some type of food additive. The E indicates that it is a "European Union approved" food additive.

If you never saw one before, probably you don't live in the European Union. Other countries have different food labelling laws. Even inside the EU, sometimes they use the code, sometimes they still write the word.

Halal: Halal is a Quranic term which means allowed or lawful. Halal foods and drinks are permitted for consumption by Allah-the Supreme Law Giver. Eating Halal is obligatory on every Muslim.

Haram: Haram is a Quranic term which means prohibited or unlawful. Haram foods and drinks are absolutely prohibited by Allah. Eating Haram is forbidden for every Muslim.

Mushbooh: Mushbooh is an Arabic term which means suspected and cover a grey area between Halal and Haraam. If one does not know the Halal or Harm status of a particular food or drink, such a food or drink is doubtful. A practicing Muslims prevents himself from consuming doubtful things.

Other words you may come across are Makrooh meaning ‘religiously discouraged’ or ‘disliked’ and Dhabiha meaning ‘slaughtered according to Islamic method’.

What is halal food

In the Arabian language, halal means “allowed” or “lawful”. Halal food is food which is allowed corresponding to Islamic food rules. According to these rules attached in the holy book, the people cannot consume the following:
-Pork or pork products
-Animals which have died before to kill (in a proper way)
-Predatory animals
-Bird of a robbery
-The grounds animal without external ears
-The animals which have been not killed correctly or not killed on behalf of God
-Blood or any blood products

These foods are protected and components are named haram, meaning prohibited in the Arabian language.

Principles, in how much in Permissibility
In general, it is accepted that the principle of halal is something that is lawful or allowed certificate. It is obligatory for the Moslem to eat Halal product and to consume products halal; and haram means illegal or protected environment of the Arabian word.

The base principle consists that all the things created by the god are allowed, with some exceptions which are protected precisely.
To decide lawful and illegal, is the right of the God. No one no matter how powerful he is, he can not take it in his hands to decide.
Prohibiting what is permitted and permitting what is prohibited is similar to ascribing partners to God.

The fundamental reasons for the prohibition of things are due to the impurity and the damage. A Muslim is not forced to know exactly why or how anything is dirty or harmful in that the God prohibited. These might be a few clear reasons and there might be dark reasons.
That is allowed is sufficient and that is prohibited is then harmful, the God prohibited only things that are harmful for the human being providing better alternatives.
That is conductive “in the Doubt " is in yes it is prohibited. If something is prohibited, any causative thing is so prohibited.
Falsely representing unlawful as lawful is prohibited and disobey God's prohibitions by flimsy excuses.
